Each family’s experience of euthanasia and the cremation of a loved one is unique. We tailor your pet’s care and aftercare to the particular needs of your situation. There are several factors involved in determining the best options and the exact costs for your pet’s care.

When estimating the cost of pet cremation, we begin by determining your pet’s weight. Crematories base their prices on the weight of an animal.

There are a few different options available for cremation. You can have your pet privately cremated and receive their ashes afterwards. If you choose communal cremation, your pet is cremated together with other animals. You will not receive the ashes of your pet with this option.

If you live in the Fort Collins/Loveland area, there is also the option to donate your pet to the Colorado State University veterinary medicine program so that your animal can help future veterinarians learn about your pet’s condition. All of these factors and options play into the cost of dog cremation.

The same is true when it comes to the cost of dog euthanasia. There are not as many factors involved, but the cost can still vary. At Home to Heaven, we base the euthanasia cost on where you live and if the appointment is during our regular business hours. We also do consultations and hospice care. These will be less expensive than the overall euthanasia cost.

Many people, even during this difficult time, are curious as to how to euthanize a dog. Each clinic has their own set procedure. We feel that our way is the kindest and most peaceful.

The doctor will arrive and make sure all paperwork and preparations are in order. He will then administer a sedative to your loved one just underneath the skin, like a vaccination. This will put them into a deep, comfortable, peaceful sleep. When you and your loved one are ready, the doctor will proceed with euthanasia via the injection of a barbiturate. This is essentially an anesthetic overdose.

This is a very humane way to help your pet leave life gracefully. All of our doctors are very well trained in a variety of euthanasia techniques. It is important to us that you know you are in good hands from beginning to end.

Please reach out to us whenever you need to, 24 hours a day. We will be more than happy to discuss these options with you further, including specific prices.
