As part of our at home pet euthanasia services, Home to Heaven provides the following:
In-Home Consultation
We discuss your needs over the phone or in your home on the day of the scheduled procedure. We will discuss all of your options - when and where euthanasia will take place, who will be there, etc. This is your time to express any special requests.
Our goal is to help you understand if euthanasia is needed and when will be the right time. We specialize in end-of-life care and will help your family learn more about your pet's disease and what to expect as it progresses.
Sedation
Our philosophy is that no animal will be in discomfort during the euthanasia process. We will give a sedative to your pet to help relieve anxiety and eliminate any underlying pain. Your pet will be in a deep sleep - peaceful and comfortable during their final moments.
Euthanasia
Once your pet is sedated and you feel ready, we will proceed with euthanasia. A solution will be given to gently stop the heart. This only takes a few moments. We will listen to the heart to let you know when your beloved friend has passed away.
You will then be able to spend some private time together before we make the transition to the crematory. This is also a nice time to tell stories and reflect on the good times you shared.
Memorial Keepsake
If you wish, we can make a clay paw print impression for you to keep. We will add your companion's name and any other information you would like, such as a nickname or dates of life. This paw print is a lovely reminder of your friend and is included in our service fee.

Grief Support / Literature
During our time together, you will receive a book titled “When Your Pet Dies” written by a counselor in Fort Collins, along with some other information about pet loss. You will also receive information on canine and feline grief for other household pets and instructions on how to post a memorial story on our website, should you choose.
Sharing your feelings with others is an important part of healing. Home to Heaven provides resources to help you open up and start the healing process.
Aftercare Preparations
If you choose to have your companion cremated, Home to Heaven will provide transportation of your loved one to one of the local crematoriums. Please refer to the Cremation page for more information.
If you choose to keep your pet for home burial, we will discuss local ordinances so you can do so safely. We can even provide you with a burial box for any pet under 80 pounds, should you wish.
Balloon ash dispersal **(Through separate arrangements)
Home to Heaven has joined with a company out of Florida called Eternal Ascent, to offer a unique method of ash dispersal for families choosing private cremation. This patented process consists of placing your beloved pet's ashes in a large 5' helium balloon. Once filled with helium, the balloon will ascend to 5 miles above the earth. At that height, it will 'brittle fracture' and release the ashes to travel the world with the four winds.
All releases are held on Dr. Cooney's farm in Loveland. Cost is $250, which includes the cost of the balloon and the helium to set it in flight. Many families have found this to be a fitting tribute to their wonderful friend. Please visit our balloon page for more information.
