All That Jazz

Jazz, a pure-bred Australian Shepherd, joined my family at six weeks of age. Born on a ranch, she was from sturdy working stock and was a wild child. My other Australian Shepherd female, a two-year-old named Kolbe who was from more refined “show breeding”, did her best to raise Jazz to be more dignified, but Jazz was always true to her registered name of “All That Jazz”. Jazz embodied the spirit of joy from beginning to end and taught me that joy could be found even in the midst of great suffering. During her life she was a certified therapy dog, a model for my media advertising campaigns, and my closest friend during the darkest days of my own life. She remains my guardian angel and I know that when I cross over to the other side Jazz will greet me with her happy dance and joyous smile, and we will continue our long journey together. –Devin O’Branagan
