Benelli was the sweetest, gentlest, softest girl ever. All she wanted was to be with her family. Benelli would go hunting with us because it was exciting. But, most of all she just wanted to go with us. She never wanted to pick up the birds. Instead, she would swim out to them, give a sniff as if to say “it is right here”. Then it was up to us to get the bird. We laughed that she was just a girl and didn’t want to touch that dirty thing! At 8 years old she was diagnosed with diabetes. We managed it very diligently with little variation. We adjusted our lives for her needs. I am quite sure this is why she was with us so long after the diagnosis. With the COVID pandemic moving me to working from home, she sat next to me EVERY day, ALL day from that point on. Again, all she wanted was to be with her family. So much love from this sweet girl. She gave us a kiss on her first day and on her last day. It was her “thing” to give kisses on command. We love you so much Benelli! 5/12/06-12/04/20
