We all love our pets, but every so often a very special comes along. Bretta was that special one.
Bretta came into my life when she was five month old as an awkward, energetic pup. Little did we both know then that we will become two inseparable souls. I did not own her. She was my soul mate, friend and companion for the next 14 years. She was very affectionate but not cuddly. Keeping me within her eyesight at all times was her life ambition. She loved our daily walks almost till the very end. We hiked every summer and she was the most magnificent trooper. Wherever I went- she followed. Even though it almost caused her to lose her tail ones as she sled down the rock face on her butt.
This little body had endless capacity for love, compassion and understanding. I didn’t have to teach her not take things off the table or run out the door if it’s open. She knew it all instinctively and did everything right. I just talked to her and she understood. Everybody thought that she was a dog, she firmly believed that she is a girl, but I know that she was my sunshine.
My Bretta loved all people very much and firmly believed that all humans exist to love and pet her but I was the only one she gave her heart and soul to. She was half Aussie but 200% love and affection. I miss her terribly and she will be in my heart as long as I live.
