I was lucky enough to get Cashew Wine from the puppy rescue in Brighten when she was 6 weeks old. She was an Australian Shepard, Red Heeler mix. I named her after the wine, Cashew Wine, my beloved friends in Belize had introduced me to. A fun wine made from the cashew fruit that made you feel happy and giddy. Cashew was a sweet campanion with the most expresive ears I’d ever seen on a dog and the softest golden yellow fur. She loved treats, and was very demanding about receiving them. She had climbed several 14ers. She wasn’t too fond of the water after wandering out too far on Torquose Lake in Leadville. The water was cold, and I thought I was going to have to swim out to get her. She hated our old RV, Big Wally ( a 1977 Class A fire trap and I think she knew it), but loved our newer RV, Bitch’in Betty (2003 Class C). We took care of eachother for 15 years and 7 months. She was one of a kind. When she passed she took a chunk of my heart and soul with her. I love you my sweet Cashew Wine.
