Cassie (Cass, Cassie Ree)
January 29, 2012
Who would have thought your little six pounds of Pomeranian fluff was just all heart? But, Cass, you knew you were really a big dog in a small package. How your two-year-old charm ended up at an animal shelter we’ll never know, but you filled our next ten years with all the loyalty and love one family could expect in a whole lifetime. Though we believe you should not have been so sick at such an early age, you gave us many precious memories right up until you quietly left us. We also know that you stayed with us this past month since Ollie passed, just to make sure we would have a little space between losing our two best friends. Thank you for your bravery. You were such a great doggie. You were both the best buddies ever.
As for memories, we still smile at the times you skidded around the corner on the wood floor and regained your footing in time to win the race to the front door. Your joyful twirls and ‘sit pretty’s for treats are fresh in our minds. With your gorgeous foxy coat, pricked ears and curled tail you always won admirers as you strutted through the park with your Cocker Spaniel pal Ollie. You loved to play like a kitty chasing imaginary mice under the bed sheets and curl up next to my head to sleep. Playful as you were, your sharp barks put children running through the house on notice that unruly behavior was not appreciated. As you taught the young grandbabies to gently pat and carefully touch, you became their most admired pet. You will be sorely missed by Ferris, Eli, and Ahnalysee who loved nothing more than to take you for walks around the neighborhood. Even Linden’s baby pats were carefully tolerated like you knew she too would become your newest little friend.
Though our hearts are broken, we know you and Ollie are waiting for us to come take two dogs for a walk in that land of rainbows and grassy meadows for as Will Rogers said, ‘If there are no dogs in Heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went.’
Cassie, we’ll always love you; we’ll never forget you.
Your people,
Becky, Ray, Ahnalysse, Eli, Ferris, Linden, Chris, Jamie, Stacy, Cary, and Jan (honored to have been your adopted mom)
