It has been exactly one year since our sweet Charley girl transitioned from this existence. It has taken me this long to be able to sit down and write her memorial. Words don’t seem adequate to express all the joy and love she brought into our life for 15 years. We still miss her so very, very much and our love for her will always live on.
She was so bonded to us and so much a part of our lives. She made several moves with us, from Michigan to Arizona and then finally, to Fort Collins, CO. From a puppy to an “old lady” she taught us much about gratitude, unconditional love, determination, as well as so many other life lessons. Yes, she got into her fair share of trouble and we actually had to “dog proof” our house mainly for her own protection. She traveled around the country with us and was the best little traveler you could ever hope for. All who came into contact with her fell in love with her. She definitely had a defiant streak and this was evident up to her last breath.
We have not found it in our hearts to adopt another dog, losing her was just so painful and I guess we are hesitant to open ourselves to that much pain, again. She was the best dog ever and will “forever be in our hearts.”
