Dear Charlie,
Thank you for being the best boy in the whole world. Thank you for teaching me what unconditional love looks like, and what true joy feels like. Thank you for showing me you should never be afraid to chase the true joy in your life, even if it is a pack chickens!
I will never forget your funny way of walking, your big fluffy tail wagging on a summer day, or your giant golden smile. Thank you for playing with me in the backyard, and for teaching me every day of your life can be fun, can be beautiful, and should never go to waste. Thank you for taking such good care of Sydney, and such good care of us. Thank you for loving me so much I could feel it in your paw when you shook my hand. Thank you for always jumping on top of your dog house when I wanted to show you off to friends or family, or just for fun. Thank you for snuggling with me when I cried and for making me laugh as hard as I can. I love you Charlie, we all love you, and none of us will forget you as long as we live.
Thank you for always trying as hard as you could to do your very best in 4-h and more importantly thank you for turning every 4-h practice, every fair, and every trip to pueblo into a grand adventure full of stories! Thank you for sniffing the judge’s butt that day, Thank you for loving to drink beer, thank you for taking off after Denise’s chickens, and for all the other countless stories about you we all love to tell so much. Thank you for growing up with me, actually thank you for not growing up with me. Thank you for staying a kid forever and for teaching me how to stay one too.
I remember on your last day here on earth you were still wagging your tail even though you were too weak to stand, and you knew what was happening. Thank you for always being happy, and for always being brave. Thank you for teaching me the way life is supposed to be lived, and the best way to die, with a big smile on your face full of memories. Because of knowing you, all who knew you are better people. And all who loved you and who were loved by you were blessed with one of god’s greatest gifts, Charlie’s love.
From now on when I look out the window into the back yard, or pick up your teal leash, I will smile knowing that you are somewhere in god’s sky full of sunshine chasing bunnies and seeing old friends. I will smile knowing that the reason you went to heaven is because god wanted his angel back, whose heart is twice as golden as his coat.
Unconditional Love,
Laura, Mom,Dad ,Mike, Sydney and all who loved and cherished you
