Chevy December 18, 2003 – September 19, 2016.
We had dogs in my family when I was growing up. But I wanted a dog of my own and the Shetland Sheepdog was the breed that appealed to me. I saved half the money for a sheltie pup and my parents paid the other half. During spring break week when I was in sixth grade I got my pup. He was the first one to come up to me in the puppy pen.
Chevy was a quick learner and a natural heeler. He stayed by our sides whenever we would walk around the property outside. He learned a lot of cute tricks, including doing a big sneeze if we would ask him, “Do you have a cold?” Chevy liked certain other dogs but he had no patience for puppies, especially if they tried to paw at him. He would curl up his lip and snarl in warning. If they didn’t get the message to back off and respect him, he would snap at them.
Everyone in my family loved Chevy. He was a part of our family for nearly 13 years. He will always have a special place in my heart.
