Daisy became a part of our family in the summer of 2005. We had recently moved to Colorado and had promised ourselves that we would welcome a new dog when we finally got settled. The kids were in kindergarten and elementary school at the time; we first spotted Daisy in a pen with other puppies, face first in a food bowl. As a lab, she always had a healthy appreciation for food. As Daisy grew up, she also developed a keen love of the outdoors. She was our camping dog and was always up for a good hike. One day while hiking with her family, the humans in our family (Dad and 2 young boys) unexpectedly came between a mother moose and her baby. Daisy was the hero that day: she provided a distraction for the mother moose, leading the mother moose away from the humans so that Dad could lead his young boys to safety. Daisy later rejoined the hiking party (and the mother moose and her baby were safely reunited, too). In later years, Daisy was not as active as she used to be; however, she still showed love and companionship to all who knew her. Now that Daisy is in Heaven, we know that she is reunited with our Great Grandma Dorothy, who loved Daisy dearly. We will always remember you, Daisy – you will forever live in our hearts.
