I am Duke – a registered border collie. I crossed the rainbow bridge on Tuesday, February 2, 2016. My best friend, Karen, found me in an abused, and neglected backyard situation. She took me on as her best ever friend, companion, and sidekick. We traveled this journey together for almost 9 years. I know she saved me – albeit I often heard Karen say to folks, “Duke saved me!” I was her best “person”, her confidant, and I was always at her side. I loved to play with the water hose and sprinkler, play with toys, and towards the end of my life – we would take long walks. As a younger dog, Karen and I would run 8 miles a day. I know she kept me slim and trim and healthy! I loved my dog treats; my “cookies”. I loved my friend PJ – he was the keeper of the “cookies”. I was a kind, compassionate, friendly border collie. I learned many words, and phrases in my life. I did not learn the word goodbye from Karen – because she always said, “we will see each other again.” love DUKE
