But in his heart he knows that sometimes a dog is as good as any man.
I rescued Elsa Bear when she was 7 weeks old from the Eagle County Animal Shelter, but in reality she rescued me. She was my prodigy dog….easy to train and incredibly loyal from the start. She loved to hike, soak in the creek and share yogurt with her mother. I couldn’t have asked for a more devoted and loving companion over the past 13 1/2 years. It’s hard to imagine life without this special, special soul. It was so fun to hike with her. Each stick was a treasure and her eagerness to lie down and soak in the occasional creeks we came by was contagious. The love that emanated from her beautiful brown eyes warmed my heart and I only hope that she understood the depth of my love as well. Every single day strangers would comment to me about her beauty and happiness…..even to the end. Elsa smiled all the time and that’s probably what I’ll miss most about her. It didn’t matter what kind of day the universe delivered me, Elsa always made it okay. I hope you are at peace big girl.
I am so incredibly grateful that Elsa Bear and I found each other. I will miss her with all my heart.
