Gus

November 19, 2016 by

Gus aka “triple G, Gus the Goose Getter” was born Feb. 27, 2004.  At 8 weeks old I went to pick Gus up from a litter of pure bred labs, but there were only two pups left.  I could’nt choose bettween the two brothers. so I stepped back about 10 feet and waited.  It only took one second for Gus to run to me as he chose me.  From that moment on he became my best friend, my hunting partner, and my companion every where I went and every thing I did.  It was apparent from the beginning that Gus had a very unique personality.  Everybody that met him fell in love with him, inlcuding everyone in the family.  Gus lived for hunting as he spent his first years training almost every day.   It was easy to see retrieving was in his blood.  He enjoyed retrieving geese, ducks, pheasants, doves, frogs, fish, (yes fish!) and anything you sent him to retrieve.  He loved running, never walking, and he especially loved riding on the back of my ATV.  He loved when the grandchildren came over and played with him.  He seemed to really have a love for children.  Gus always wanted to go for a ride in the truck right up to the end.  He always knew where we were going by looking at the landscape and would always get excited when we would get close to his favorite spots or friends and families’ houses.  Gus affected the lives of everyone he met right up to his final day.  Dogs like Gus only come around once in a lifetime, and we all love him dearly.  We will miss his smiling face and the sound of his bark forever and ever.  You will never be forgotten.

Rest in peace our angel Gus.

Your beloved pet is sick

The diagnosis and subsequent prognosis aren't good. Now is the time to contemplate advanced animal hospice care or putting your pet to sleep (euthanasia). But where do you turn for help? What are the next steps? How do you make this final period of your companion’s life as peaceful as possible? Read more...
