Harry

November 19, 2016 by

Our Dog Harry

12/16/01 – 08/30/15

On February 12, 2002, two days before Valentine’s Day, “Harrison the Valentine” (Harry) joined our family.  Harry was a plump, Sheltie puppy — the last of the litter.  Our children were 11 and 6 at the time, so, in a lot of ways, Harry and our children grew up together.  Harry was the definition of a “family dog.”  He was ever loyal.  Harry was always game for walks, games of fetch, being “dressed up”, going for rides in wagons and on office chairs, sliding down slides and being pulled on a sled.  He loved his family and he would do anything to please them.

When Harry was 9 years old we almost lost him to a reaction to antibiotics.  He had to learn to stand and walk again.  In spite of a liver condition, we were able to enjoy his loving presence for 4 more years.  When we said good-bye to Harry, our family was all together which is what a herding dog wants.

We miss you Harry.  We miss you greeting us when we get home, we miss going for walks with you and we miss you always being in the room with us.  We are so thankful you were our dog.  You were a gift unlike any other gift.  Harry, you were love in its purest form.  Thank you for blessing our lives with your kind and noble presence.  You will live in our hearts forever.
