Lincoln – my sweet, brave boy died in my arms on June 19, 2013.
I am so grateful for the condolences and lovely memories of those who knew Lincoln. He was my first pet. Sick and already old when I adopted him from Maxfund almost 6 years ago, but he was always sweet. He worked for a time as a Therapy Dog at the hospital. Lincoln loved everyone, except maybe a fox he chased across the street one time. It was a good thing that the fox did not turn around to challenge him! He was so funny the first time he saw deer – he fussed and put on a big display to protect me. He used to sit on the mat outside the shower door to guard me when I showered. He even helped me with an audition for “Company”. I didn’t have a joke to tell, so Lincoln helped me sing a little parody for the director. Lincoln kept my friend Nancy warm when she visited. She passed away from cancer in March. Nancy loved all creatures and gave of herself to animal shelters and charities wherever she and her husband lived. They fostered and rescued many animals. I like to think that Lincoln has gone to be with Nancy. I feel all your prayers, hugs and love.
