Dear Maya, My Moon 4/18/09-6/23/23 You’ve been in my orbit for so long I don’t remember what it was like not to have you by my side. You always followed and kept me grounded with your gentle pull. You carried me through my 20s and beyond. Thousands of days, just me and you taking on the world. In so many ways you taught me what it felt like to nurture and soften, how to accept the true love I deserve, and how to show up with an open heart ready to love others no matter what. At one point, I was naive to think that this day wouldn’t touch the depth of my soul, that this tidal wave wasn’t always coming but the truth is, Maya, you are woven into every fiber of my being. You are in the marrow of my bones, in the cartilage of my joints, you’ve always been a sweet layer of tissue intertwined with the muscle of my heart. Maya, my moon, thank you for everything and please go peacefully knowing that you did the best job a companion ever could. I will love you forever.
