Miranda was 10 when we adopted her from the Longmont Humane Society in 2015. Her paperwork indicated that she had been born in Cheyenne in 2005, and her previous family surrendered her due to the husband’s allergies. As an older black cat, she had two strikes against her and had been at the shelter for about six weeks. She was traumatized by her time in the shelter, despite being well cared for. It was two years before she purred. She spent most of her life with us in my bedroom, on her personal brown folded fleece blanket at the foot of my bed. She didn’t like to be picked up or sit on laps, but I loved her for the nine years that we had her. She snuggled with me at night, and I visited her often during the day to cuddle and love on her. She loved to be brushed and especially to have her cheeks brushed. She was a wonderful, sweet cat, and I miss her so much.
