Sweet Mocha Dog – May 2000 to May 2013

The passing of a 13 year old dog is the personal end of an era. She saw me through so much:
2 breakups (one good riddance, one heart break)

some really bad dates

some really good dates

more than a half dozen road trips
1 car accident
3 moves
1 great marriage
2 states
2 pregnancies

3 children
hiking
numerous romps on the beach
and swims in the ocean
chasing balls in the park
swimming in Lake Tahoe
rollerblading down paths
walks down the street and up the hill
shopping at Nordstrom and Eddie Bauer – lying down while waiting for me
working at Stanford (under my desk)
chasing balls at the Oval
shredding stuffed animals
countless nylabones and treat toys
riding along in the car
marking her territory
cactus in her paws

petit mal siezures as a puppy
a cut on her leg with stitches
dental surgery
summersaults and side rolls from running and then stopping too fast
snowy days – snowplowing after her “squirrel” toy
happy sneezes (did you know that dogs sneeze when they are happy?)
catching flies – up until the very end
smiling and snorting – she had the sweetest submissive smile
Her body gave out before her spirit and mind.
Miss you sweet baby dog.
