Mr. Tucker

November 19, 2016 by

Mr. Tucker came to live with us after a tragic situation left his family unable to care for him. A new pet in an already full house can prove to be a challenge but not with Mr. Tucker. From the start he was a gentle giant to all he met; dogs, cats, guinea pigs, children, neighbors…everybody loved Mr. Tucker, and he loved everybody back! He aged gracefully over the years and at age 12 he finally started to show us that his time with us would not last forever (we really wanted him to be the forever dog). Even as he got sicker he remained patient and dignified and always had his great big heart greeting us! After a recent evening walk, Mr. Tucker came home unable to use his back leg…it was diagnosed the next day as advanced stage bone cancer. He could no longer physically greet us and we could see it in his eyes that he was in a great deal of pain and his dignity was challenged. It was time to let him go and were able to say goodbye in his favorite corner of the garden on a beautiful summer morning. We miss his “largeness” and his barking and howling…his large food bill and everything that comes with a really large dog! But mostly we miss his sweet face and his unconditional love. He was the kindest dog we have ever had the honor of caring for.

Your beloved pet is sick

The diagnosis and subsequent prognosis aren't good. Now is the time to contemplate advanced animal hospice care or putting your pet to sleep (euthanasia). But where do you turn for help? What are the next steps? How do you make this final period of your companion’s life as peaceful as possible? Read more...

Our promise to you

We will be there with you through this process - before, during, and even years after you say goodbye to your beloved pet. Call (970) 412-6212
