Scarlett was already 2 years old when she came into our lives on September 4th 2004, purely by chance. We're so glad that God intervened and saw to it that we all 'rescued' each other that day. From that day forward, it was as if she'd always been a part of our lives, we couldn't imagine a time when she wasn't there. We did as much as we could together as a family: walks, hikes, car rides, vacations, parties, travel to soccer tournaments, 'campouts' (the indoor variety), strolls in Old Town where everybody loved her and she got to people watch, get free hand outs and tons of pats on the head and belly rubs. She loved going to the bigger, wide open parks or anywhere that she could go off leash and run free. She'd run and sniff, then circle back around you letting you know she was okay and that she'd always return. She was pretty much trained, but food was her major temptation so you couldn't leave food alone for long! :-) Even though there were three people in the house, she was my shadow, never more than a few inches behind me it seemed. She was always very sensitive and stayed even closer when you were sick or sad. As she got older and sicker, she stayed even closer. I don't know if that was for her benefit, mine or for both of us. We had to say goodbye to our earthly Girl on New Year's night, she was 11 year's old. We'd had a great life together. Would I have liked more? You betcha, but her body couldn't handle anymore and we decided to give her one final 'gift'. I miss her every minute of the day: the jingle of her collar, the tilt of her head, the intense look in her eyes and the slow way she'd amble over for a snuggle with those large, soft ears. Scarlett Baby, we're glad you're not in any discomfort anymore, but my heart misses you like crazy. You brought our family great joy, laughter and comfort, I can't wait to see you and snuggle you again. Sweet dreams my Love, Rest in Peace. xoxoxo
