The circumstances under which Piglet came to live with me were rather unusual.  It was a rainy night in Boulder and I was driving home from the gym, travelling north on 30th Street from Baseline.  Out of the corner of my eye, I saw what I thought might be a small kitten huddled on the yellow line in the middle of the street.  I turned around and drove in the other direction, but didn't see anthing that time.  So, I turned around again and started heading home.  Once again, the light was just right and I saw a small kitten hunkered down on the yellow line.  I stopped my car, turned on my emergency flashers, ran into the middle of the street, scooped him up, and put him in the car.

A few days later, I went back to the same area and knocked on some doors to see if I could find his owner, but it was a half-hearted attempt.  By then, Piglet had already wormed his way into my heart.  He was with me for almost 18 years after that.
