Tyson was a handsome white Boxer.  We adopted him 3 years ago.  Because of conflicting dates of birth on the paperwork we received, we estimated that he was 8-9 years old when he passed.  At his peak, Tyson weighted 85 lbs.  He was a one-of-a- kind pet and a special companion to Dolores, Matthew and James.  He was the most gentle, well-mannered dog that we have ever seen.  Although he looked intimidating, people would quickly see his tail wagging and realize that he was harmless.  Everyone he came in contact with him loved him.  The only aggression he showed was toward a fox who liked to roam the greenbelt near our home.  At a Cripple Creek, CO parade last year, he decided to lie down on the sidewalk despite all of the people that had to step over him or walk around him.   He became the center of attention with people posing and taking pictures with him.  Tyson didn't like walks but when offered a car ride, he would immediately stand up and rush to the door.  He loved to be indoors and he loved to be close to people.  On those rare occasions when he'd agree to a walk, people were immediately drawn to him.  Tyson would allow us to put sunglasses on him.  He apparently liked them because he made no effort to remove them.  He also didn't mind being dressed in sweaters, hats, etc.  Last year for Halloween, for example, he allowed us to dress him as a pirate. The trick or treaters loved him.  Unfortunately, Tyson was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor about a year ago and was given 9 - 18 months to live.  We were lucky to have had him 12 months after his diagnosis.  We believe that we did everything possible to keep him alive.  As his illness progressed he required more and more help with grooming, walking up and down the stairs, etc.  However, we were there to clean him, clean after him and to love him.  Although difficult, we have no regrets.  We would do it again in a heartbeat.  Tyson, (our hito) is missed greatly.  Memories of him will always be with us.
