Zoey was always there for us - a family member.  My husband picked up the smallest pup of the litter from a box of puppies outside of Wal-Mart!  I would never recommend doing that but, who knew it would be almost 16 years later of Zoey paying attention to all of us.  Right from the first week, this seven week old always had to have “a job to do” or learn something new or else she would create her own task and end up directing us around.  But she was always an angel never getting into trouble unless, you count the time she decorated the hall, dining room and living room with a roll of toilet paper – only after looking up from the evidence saying, “what’s next – what are we going to do now.”  It wasn’t long before we figured out that this mutt must of had Border Collie in her with that determined stance and stare; ready to run fast and “roundup” a pile of tennis balls.  Yet, she a gentle side, she was so gentle with my dad while suffering with Alzheimer’s – who knew she would suffer with the same kind of fate.  So gentle with a scared older cat, that joined our family from the Humane Society or the new young kitten.  She taught us so much with her perseverance and never give up attitude.  Who knew cancer would end up robbing her of her physical strength but not her determination.  Till we meet again, Zoey.  After all it would not be heaven without dogs.
