Ranger
Entered into rest
Ranger, a lab/shepherd mix came to us from Puppy Rescue. He was a Mother’s Day gift from our children. Ranger was an inquisitive and energetic dog with a mind of his own. When he grew a little taller he turned our backyard into a war zone strewn with shoes, dirty dishes and silverware from the sink and clothing (including unmentionables) from the laundry basket. It was an embarrassment. He also loved to carry the waste baskets into another room and sort the trash.
Ranger calmed down somewhat as he aged showering us with affection and loyalty. Besides following the normal commands he brought in the newspaper, carried his food dish to us when he was hungry or wanted treats, and patrolled the back yard to keep out kitties, squirrels, and birds. When we were away from home, he watched for us through the front window and greeted us enthusiastically at the front door.
Our beloved 12 year old Ranger was arthritic and most recently walked with a limp. At the last visit to the vets office when he was diagnosed with bone cancer, we knew we had to end his pain. The next day he went from home to heaven. We miss Ranger so much. He was our companion and best friend who loved us unconditionally.
