We rescued Riley in Hawaii in 2007, when we went to look at adopting another dog but saw him stumbling across the lawn and knew we just had to have him. He had been abandoned on the mean Honolulu streets as a puppy and had mange, losing much of his fur and appearing quite pink. With some meds and lots of TLC, he gained back his white hair, along with black and brown spots, and was utterly adorable for his 14 years traveling the globe with us. A Dalmatian/Jack Russell Terrier mix, Riley loved people and was fond of showing them by licking their hands, legs, faces – basically, wherever his tongue could get in a quick kiss (ears were his favorite). With ears that sometimes resembled those of the “Flying Nun,” Riley was especially fond of milk, bread, cookie dough, dry pasta, peanut butter and ice cream. Though he had small paws, Riley left an enormous imprint of love on our lives and will be greatly missed. RIP with your sister Sydney in puppy heaven, sweet boy.
