Our dear sweet Rocco boy was born “Penrose Brocco” in October of 1999. He was a purebred greyhound born to “My Rooster” and “Penrose Shams”. Rocco spent the first years of his life as a racing dog. He was in 13 races.
He was then rescued by Friends of Retired Greyhounds and my family and I were lucky enough to be able to adopt him in May of 2007. We only had a short time with him as he passed on in November of 2008. I have not written this before because even now I sit here with tears in my eyes.
Rocco was the best dog ever. He was a playmate to my children. He was a companion of the utmost loyalty and he was my walking partner.. Because of Rocco I lost over 50 lbs. He walked with me every day and when he knew it was time to walk he jumped at the front door in anticiptation. He walked very well on a leash and kept his eyes straight ahead. Nothing bothered him- not a barking dog, not another person, not a car. Until he saw a rabbit that is. Then I had to hold on tight. He was certainly trained to go after those rabbits. Unfortunately I have been unable to walk since he passed because I just don’t have my buddy anymore.
,br>Over the year and a half we had Rocco he shared our home with many other foster greyhounds and never complained about it. He actually never complained about anything. Right up until the day he died. He was very patient and kind and he touched our hearts forever.
We love you Rocco!
