Roxie came to us from a no-kill rescue facility in Brighton Colorado. She had been a stray for the first 2 years of her life and was a very energetic wild dog. Roxie presented a major challenge right from the beginning. She was very alert (too alert sometimes) and tough to control. Yet, through a great deal of patience and admiration for each other, we all got trained. She became the perfect walking companion, and as with most dogs, lived for her daily walks with both of us. She would not leave for a walk without both Terry and I being ready to go. The most outstanding quality Roxie displayed was an uncanny ability to empathize with you and your feelings. It was amazing to see her come to those she loved and trusted and either put her chin on your knee or lay down beside you if you were upset or feeling down. Roxie taught us a great deal about ourselves. She is, and will be sorely missed! She was our best friend!
