Ruger came to us through the rescue program at Pet smart. We had been looking for several months for a dog compatible to add to our already dog family of 3, and had just about given up when I went to go get pet food and saw him in a cage there. I walked by him and he followed me with his eyes. Something told me to stop and I turned and reached my hand in to pet him, he licked me and I just got that good feeling. So I asked if I could take him out and they let me take him for a walk and it was as if he had been my dog for years. He was well trained he sat, shook his paw, laid down and healed. He rubbed up on my leg as if to say take me home please. He was an older dog about 6 and black, those are the hardest to get adopted. Well I just knew at that moment he had to go home with us. I called my husband and he came down and Ruger just stuck his paw up on my husband and he said oh ya he’s the one. My other dogs loved him at first sight also. Ruger was kind and gentle he was just a big ole duffas and was so happy to be in a home with love. He lived with us for 6 years. He lived a good life and was happy until the last week when his tail wasn’t wagging as much he tried though. His eyes just said it was time. He was old and tired. It was hard to lose him just before Christmas, and seeing his stocking makes me cry. He gave us lots of love and was such an awesome dog, he will be truly missed. “LOVE YA BUBBA BOY, YOU ARE THE BEST”.
