Sage was just a little more than 20 years old on the morning she told me it was time for her to leave. A wild and crazy, top notch athlete and hunter in her distant youth, she spent her middle years and old age as a comfortable dowager, presiding over wildlife large and small from “her” upholstered armchair by the window. She loved to be groomed, and would follow me around almost every day making her signature, “eh, eh, eh”, call to alert me that it was time to groom the cat. She was never a lap cat, always prefering to be nearby, rather than in contact. Friendly but not needy. Dignified rather than goofy (that was the Maine Coon’s job.) She left us on February 29th, 2012. Good journey, Sage – may you chase endless chipmunks on the other side!
