SAM’S STORY

My name is Sam Kuenning. I was lost on the streets of Cheyenne, Wyoming, but found my way to my forever home in Colorado, at Carter Lake with my new parents Ted & Jody. I was very excited to be there. My Mom & Dad were still working then, so because I was so energetic they tried Doggie Day care. That was fun for awhile, but didn’t last very long as there were to many buddies to play with and I kinda got in trouble playing with everyone and didn’t want to have a rest period. Then later on my sister Ivey came along and that’s when the new adventures started. We played and barked and swam in the lake. My Dad fished sometimes and would catch a dandy and throw it back and I would try and bring it back. I loved walking in the water. Even the rivers, when we went camping. I really loved camping and we went a lot after my Dad and Mom retired. We went almost everywhere together. I saw lots of western country. I played and walked in Wyoming and Kansas and New Mexico and all over in Colorado.

My favorite place was Leadville. I loved the high country and would walk all over town and play in the lakes and rivers. I loved walking down town and smell everything, winter or summer. The snow was great to play in. I even loved riding in the truck backseat. My sister didn’t like it much though cause I used to lay flat out and take up the whole back seat whenever we went some place. We had adventures every day. We played and walked all over Carter Lake, it was never boring. Except when the car rides were to the Vet. I didn’t like that much, they were always trying to stick me with something. My Mom and Dad never left my side and were always there. Sometimes Dad would cut my hair in the summer, I was pretty shaggy and I felt a lot cooler. I had lots of toys, me and my sister would play ring around the house running back and forth trying to catch each other, it was great. We ate together and slept together, all of us. In the house the camper, we even took naps together, I was never to far away from my Dad. Even when he was watching TV I was right there by the couch where he could reach me and scratch my head and stroke my back and belly.

Twelve years I played and romped and walked all over, I was saved and happy to have such wonderful parents and a great sister. I know someday that we will all be together again and it will be forever and just like before. I’m waiting for you Mom & Dad.

Love Sam.
