Scout

November 19, 2016 by

Scout came into our lives with both barrels loaded and full of life…….
We first met her in the back of a SUV in the pouring rain at a convenience store in NE.  That’s where the breeder introduced her to us.  That’s where our journey began with her.  She leapt into our arms and it was love at first hug.  She slept between us that first night and woke up bright eyed with tail waggin’ wanting to know what kind of games we could play with her.  She was like that for the entire 6+ years that she has been with us.
She very much lived up to her namesake, which was the character Scout from To Kill a Mockingbird.  Full of life with an incredible spirit.  Defiant and sweet as honey, all at the same time.
Cancer took her from us far too early but she lived life to the VERY fullest each and every single day.  She took a sharp turn at the end and that’s when we knew we had to let her go.  Her best friend, Honor, is still mourning her just as we are.  We are trying to adjust to life without her.   She was the heartbeat of our household.  We love and miss you, Scout Louise Del Vento.  You were the best baby girl any 2 Moms could ask for.  We loved you with all of our hearts and continue to do so.  We will all meet again someday, my sweet girl.  Until then, give those squirels hell but remember to rest in between patrols.  We love you, Scouty Wouty.
