I adopted Scout at 3 years old from the humane society about 12 years ago. When he first came home he was quite ill, skin-and-bones thin, and wouldn’t eat anything. My mom cooked him some chicken which he ate for the first week while his antibiotics kicked in and he developed a personality. A very loud and boisterous personality. Never in my life have I encountered another dog that was so intelligent, perceptive, and communicative. He was a constant companion at my side for 12 years. If he couldn’t follow me somewhere, he would (loudly) let you know how he felt about it. He remained a spry little spitfire into his elderly years. In February of this year, we thought we were going to lose him to IMHA, but he pulled through and gave us another 3 months before a rapid decline in health. We are so grateful to Dr. Gupta and Home to Heaven for providing a comfortable and peaceful end for the little old man. Fittingly, his last day’s meals were chicken.
