Shadow was just that..our shadow. Especially my husbands. He followed him everywhere the minute he came home from work. He was so in love with his daddy. He knew exactly when to start looking for him to come home and wouldn’t budge from the window til he saw his truck. His name had come from the Homeward Bound movie. Our daughter loved the retriever in that movie. It suited our puppers so well… Our Shadow was the best dog a family could ask for. He was loyal, loving, mixed with all the hyper activity of ten dogs..but that was okey..that’s what made him ours. He was the cutest puppy, with the biggest paws. We should of known then what we were getting into, but we were taken with his floppy ears, and so much skin he looked like one of those stuffed wrinkles puppies instead of a labrador retriever. He shook in my lap all the way home. He was so adorable, we let him sleep in our bed that night, and, that’s where he slept every night til he got sick. Every night from the time he was a cute little puppy, til he reached his 100 lb weight.. it was just right. Shadow was only 5 .1/2 when he was taken from us. Not very old in human years..we’d planned on so many more swimming trips..he loved to swim..hed stay in the water all day if we let him..camping trips, anything..he was thrilled to go for a ride down the street to buy milk… Shadow loved company. Hed greet everyone with a shoe, a slipper, a sock..anything he could get his mouth on when they came to the door. Yes, he did have his favorite family members, those he would whine and give his special little whimper when he saw..his auntie with the loud stereo..everytime he heard a loud stereo he would go running to the door thinking she was coming….his other auntie he would insist on getting scratched and petted from…his papa… No dog will ever replace our Shadow. We loved him more than any dog ever. We are glad he is no longer suffering from the cancer that took him unfairly from us too soon….but we sure are going to miss our good boy. Right now he’s probably swimming in a pure blue pond, or chasing balls, or giving an angel a workout…he loved to run… We’ll see you in heaven Shadow..thank you for being the best….
Love Always,
Your Family
