February 4, 1998 – August 14, 2009
Sophie joined our family in 1998. She was the BEST pet anyone could ever have, Sophie was the kind of dog that when you looked into her eyes she had that twinkle, that glimmer that said she loved you unconditionally no matter what. She loved her daily walks, coming along for a drive and hanging her head out the window with the wind blowing in her face and having her favorite snackie. She was a sporting dog who loved to go camping, hiking, boating and wading in the shallow rivers and lakes. Ground squirrels learned to fear the digging and snorting that she did in attempt to find them. Sophie made several trips across the US with us; she was the best traveler and loved by all who encountered her loveable face and wagging tail as she greeted you with a nudge to pet her. Sophie taught us the true meaning of compassion, patience and unconditional love; we will do our best to honor her and continue practicing what she taught us and hope we make her proud.
Up until the end of May, Sophie had a life of health, happiness and was a very intelligent, loving animal. However, she was diagnosed with IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease) and struggled with the disease which the Vet and us believe that was just the small part of her real illness “cancer”, a mass in her stomach lead to her final days. After a long night in critical care at CSU Vet Hospital we decided to bring her home and asked Home to Heaven to put her to sleep, Kathleen was so gentle and caring and allowed our little girl to pass into doggie heaven with dignity. We will be taking her ashes to her favorite camping location and spread her ashes in the meadow that she loved to frolic in and lay her to rest in peace.
We are so grateful to have had her in our lives and will be deeply missed; she will miss her camping buddies Chesster and Rookie and her long time fiends Bailey, Libby Belle, and cousin’s Cami, Sophie and Riley.
Thank you Precious for everything, we love and miss you terribly!
