Zen

November 19, 2016 by

Zen

He came to us as a nine week old puppy. He was purchased from a good
and well known breeder. He had a job to do; help save a little girl who
had witnessed her big sister getting sick and almost dying. His name was
Zen and it fit him perfectly especially as he aged. Zen’s calm demeanor
transcended the reality he was put into, but earned the name given to him by
his 10 year old girl. He let her dress him up in children’s clothes and push
him in a stroller around the neighborhood!
This dog was wired differently than the rest of the canine world. Zen
rarely wagged his tail and unless you knew him, he appeared aloof. Yet he
followed his human family members room to room all day, everyday. He
laid next to and up against them at every opportunity, and waited outside
closed doors till they reappeared. Zen danced in circles for a treat and barked
with joy if you danced with him. He loved anything edible including winter
snow. He would leap into it with a gusto only seen of Eskimo dogs, but
don’t spray him with its liquid form. Many dogs love to go for a ride but for
Zen it might cause him to vomit in the door pocket. His antics made us laugh
and love him without embarrassment and we hoped he would be with us
forever.
Old age finally took its toll on Zen as it does most dogs and cats. Way too
soon for us humans. We only wanted Zen to be our everlasting pet and
love! We set Zen free of old age and pain eternally. The Gurski family will
never be free from our love for him, our longing to hold him, and to kiss his
beautiful face again.
